The anticipation was real as people lined up outside the store. Once inside, It was a sensory overload, with a showcase of the brand's most iconic products that are breaking the internet. 

The atmosphere was charged with positive energy as participants immersed themselves in the practice, guided by skilled instructors showcasing the versatility and quality of @hankenactive's yoga gear. From supportive mats to ergonomic props, each piece reflected the brand's commitment to elevating the yoga experience.

Christel Mett's effervescent personality, combined with DJ Lil Bukkake's vibrant energy, ignited an incredible evening of bingo. We set up tables in the outdoor section of LOT for this thrilling game night. Amidst shots, lip-sync battles, and unforgettable performances, the undisputed highlight of the night was the inventive cocktails served by Rebel Port Club. This club, which recently opened its doors at LOT this season, presented us with a fresh perspective on enjoying port wine in a completely revitalized manner.

Christel Mett's bubbly persona, coupled with DJ Lil Bukkake's lively energy, fired up an amazing evening of bingo. Tables were arranged in the outdoor area of LOT for the grand game night. While the Eleven Lab was distributing small appetizers, the undeniable highlight of the night was the wine from Que Se Foda - a Portuguese wine brand that boldly defies convention with its dynamic and daring approach, leaving no one indifferent.

"Behind the Brand" is our column where you get exclusive behind-the-scenes access to our partner brands and learn more about the people that make our products. Today, we meet Dennis de Vries, the Creative Director of Next Memory.

Hi! First off, introductions are in order: What is your name and what is your role?

I am Dennis de Vries and I work as a Creative Director for Next Memory.

All stories have a starting point: where's yours? What inspired Next Memory?

What are the values that drive the brand?

Freedom of creation, Handmade and Heart-Driven approach.

How do you see your brand in the world? What impact do you think it brings?

It's all about memory. We want people to know how to use their strong noses, which can do so much for them on a daily basis. We try to create gimmicks that will trigger people to use the nose differently.

What makes Next Memory different? What makes it a must have?

We feel very lucky — maybe it was meant to be, but creating Next Memory based on our love for Portugal, and then we found a gorgeous space that belonged to a J. J. Fernandes pharmacy… Well, it feels like we were meant to create not just another brand, but an experience. Next Memory is a luxurious niche brand, that embosses all the tradition and Portuguese knowledge. We don't sell just products, we offer olfatory memories in a bottle.

How does your creative process start? What shapes your product development?

Many years working in this sector were creating projects and ideas that were kept in a notebook to be brought to the world when the moment was right. A trip or just a visit to a church 100 meters from our atelier brings a wonderful story that deserves to be celebrated. Portugal has a rich, unique and unrepeatable history.

Is there something you do/know now that you wish you did/knew from the get-go?

With our brand, we try to create fragrances where you open the way for your own "next memory". So, in the future, someone will say, "this fragrance reminds me of my grandmother because she used Pink Lemon over Orange or a fragrance that speaks to you. That's the main idea behind the brand. It's also inspired by Latvia Our travels around Portugal over the last 12 years are an inspiration; so much nature, the city's spirit, and the people's freedom. We wanted to capture that into the fragrances.

How has maranathahouston played into your growth as a brand?

Rīga has always been a desired market to Next Memory, since it started, but we needed a good partner that knows the market and shares the same philosophy. LOT was the perfect match!

What excites you more about this industry?

It's an art, pure poetry for our senses, a revive for our ancestral history and traditions, the "savoir-faire", something very human that no AI or machine can ever feel.

Which smell reminds you of your childhood?

The great scent of Cedar wood because of my grandfather's woodworking workshop.

In one word how would you describe Next Memory?

Remarkable.

"People we love" is a column where we interview artists that we love, and get an exclusive sneak peek at them, their art, and their view on the world. In this installment, we meet Alex Proba, a well established visual artist that has worked with brands such as Louis Vuitton.

From a European artist based in The United States, what are, in your perspective, the main differences in the art industry between Europe vs. America?

I’ve moved to the USA almost 12 years ago now after coming from studying in the Netherlands (Design Academy Eindhoven) and I was actually very clueless about contemporary American design and what it means. I’ve learned that and experienced that American design takes itself less seriously than European design (or the design I grew up with) and lets you be a bit more playful and have a wink.

As an artist who has worked with some big brands such as Louis Vuitton and Google, how is the creative process of working with these household names? Is it intimidating?

Some of these big brands, for example, Louis Vuitton, have very well-defined traits that are obvious to the customer. Do you sometimes feel pressured to adapt your art to a certain brand?  

Your work is an absolute mastery of color and shapes. Have you always felt comfortable mixing this many colors and shapes, or was it something you grew into with time as you developed your artistic style?

Considering your amazing repertoire of partnerships, why did you choose to work with a more lowkey brand like Dulis?

I love anything handmade and for kids and Dulis' collections and materials are just beautiful.

Does the creative process of children inspire your own art? Is it a learning experience for both sides?

I wish I could think like a kid when making my designs as they just do and not overthink and the outcomes are better than mine ;). It's so freeing to watch that and see the excitement when they do it.

We all know the overwhelming whirlwind of tasks that comes upon the festive season - from buying gifts for everyone to the pressure of planning every event to perfection. This corner has a bit of everything to celebrate this time of joy and to make your job of gift offering a bit easier.

The event was held at LOT and it counted with utmost special guests whose presence sparked up the night. Aside from that, the party was hyped up by DJ Shugi Music and the artist Elleonor, who was in charge of personalizing each bought piece. To amp up the mood we had a wide offering of beverages as well as popcorn promptly made at our very own machine.

I love myself a set! It's the most magical way of success - in reality, you just bought yourself two items to be worn in endless ways and when you do decide to wear them together, you look like the boldest person in the room. You can't go wrong here!

I just wish my boyfriend was able to wear something besides the color black, the set possibilities between us would be so infinite, we could even match, one item for each! CAH-UTE!
